Psalms 23 is one of the most memorized and famous prosperity scriptures in the Bible. I first started reciting it when I was around 6 years old. At that time, I didn’t understand the profound truths and awesome revelation included in these verses.

Let’s take an in-depth look at these Bible scripture verses and see what Prosperity Promises they contain for each of us.

The Lord Is My Shepherd

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

First, Psalms 23 is written to those who are sheep of God. He is their shepherd.

The relationship between Shepherd and Sheep is very close. The Sheep are dependent on the Shepherd not only for protection, but also for direction. The Sheep will stay in the same location or place until the Shepherd moves them. They won’t wander. Even when the grass is all eaten, instead of moving, they will stay in the same place and starve before seeking new pastures.

What does that mean for us?

The Lord orders our steps. He determines where we are and we will remain there until he leads us to an new place.

Green Pastures and Still Waters

Because we trust and obey, we shall not want. He has promised to supply all of our wants. (see Phillipians 4:19) The Lord even makes me (us) to “lay down in green pastures”.

No dried up place for God’s sheep.

Even when we are confused or puzzled or without understanding, God will take us to “Green Pastures” and make us to lay down. And we will go because we are his sheep and we hear his voice (John 10:27)

He also will lead us besides the “Still Waters”.

God wants us to find a peaceful place in him. A place where we can become restful, not restless. Yes sir, The Shepherd, wants us to be surrounded with Prosperity. With Plenty of Green Pastures and Still Waters.

A Restored Soul

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake “

Our soul represents our mind, our feelings, our intellect. God’s people don’t think like unbelievers. Yep, we are a different lot. Remember, we must trust him for all our decisions. We must hear his voice and not follow another. God has restored our soul. He has changed our minds.

God will lead us in the path of righteousoness because he has a promise to keep. Promises he made to Abraham and all his heirs. By faith in Jesus, those promises are ours as well. And God keeps his promises. His name (reputation) is on the line. That why he can’t let his sheep fall.

We Will Fear No Evil

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.“

We will not be afraid, because he has promised to never leave or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5)

Our Cup Runneth Over

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”

Even in the midst of those who mean us harm, we can be comfortable and assured that God is with us.. God has promised us favor from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet.. The Blessings of the Lord will overflow.

A Believer’s Assurance of Prosperity

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

We are confident that God’s promises of goodness and mercy will remain with us all the days of our lives. Therefore we know that we will dwell with him forever.

Do you want more than enough? Blessings so great that they “overflow”? Where you have enough for not only you and your family, but some to give to others.

Well in Luke Chapter 6, Jesus shares some prosperity secrets to receiving overflowing blessings. These are not just “Attitudes”, but “Actions” that we can take to create prosperity and abundance.

Have you ever read Luke Chapter 6 verse 38?

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Although a lot of people remember and quote this bible verse many don’t recall the prerequisites given in the preceding verses. Everyone wants to have blessings that are “running over”, but there are conditions that must be met first. Let’s see if we can uncover these secrets to overflowing prosperity.

Prosperity Secret – Actively Love Your Enemies

“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.” (Luke 27-36)

If we look closely, Jesus gives us the key action points:

Love is an action verb. Do good to them that hate you. Not just think good, but do good.

Bless and pray for those who treat you badly. Everyone deserves a second chance (turn the other cheek , offer coat after they have taken your cloak). After all, didn’t God gave us another chance? It’s easy to love your friends, but everyone can do that. Be different. Show love to those who are against you.

Lend without expecting a return favor. Money of course is intended here, but it could also mean time and energy. Maybe a sincere word of compassion when needed? Do you think because it is so hard to do is why Jesus says “and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest”?

Be merciful. Don’t take advantage if you have the upperhand. God loves people, so should we.

Prosperity Secret – Routinely Practicing Small Kind Actions Creates Big Results

In Luke chapter six verses thirty-seven and thirty-eight, Jesus really sums up what is required to create “Running Over” blessings.

Consistent kind actions like:

Don’t judge others

Don’t condemn others

Forgive others

Give and men will give back to you.

“Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6: 37-38)

Have you ever tried to fill a salt shaker?

It is very hard to do without spilling some over the sides. (At least, I always do). Well, verse 38 can be likened to that salt shaker. Every small kind action represents a small grain of salt. It is not the individual action but the collective power of continuous actions that creates big results.

Yes, “Running Over” blessings can be created!

Consider this amazing reaction. Each small kind action is accumulated and pressed down, shaken together. No void empty space is left. No room for hate just love and kindness. Because of our actions, God will give us favor with others. God will reward us according to how we collectively act to our enemies, not just our friends.

Go ahead and start practicing these small kind actions. It may take some time, but each one counts and before you realize it, “Overflowing Prosperity” will be yours.
